STC Associate Fellow, 2005
Linda G. Gallagher has been named an associate fellow of the Society for Technical Communication (STC). Ms. Gallagher is the founder and manager of TechCom Plus, LLC, a technical communication firm in Westminster, Colorado specializing in creating usable printed and online user documentation for hardware and software products.
Ms. Gallagher's citation reads “For sustained contributions to and outstanding leadership of the Rocky Mountain and St. Louis chapters and the Society's Consulting and Independent Contracting special interest group, and for willingly providing support and encouragement as a mentor."
The Society for Technical Communication is a professional organization for technical writers, editors, illustrators, managers, and educators. It is the largest professional organization in this field, with more than 18,000 members in 145 chapters worldwide. The Society recognizes and honors deserving senior members by conferring upon them the rank of associate fellow. STC’s associate fellows have earned this honor through their dedicated work for the technical communication profession and the Society. Fewer than 1 percent of STC members achieve the grade of associate fellow.
Award of Excellence, STC Online Competition, 2004
Linda G. Gallagher, of TechCom Plus, LLC, designed and wrote the online help system for Window WasherTM from Webroot Software, Inc. that won an Award of Excellence. Competition judges commented on the clear writing, clean navigation, good organization, and excellent index. They also liked the use of icons, breadcrumbs, and drop-downs to help both novice and advanced users understand key information about how to use the product. One judge noted: "This help actually is helpful."
The competition is an annual event sponsored by the Rocky Mountain Chapter of the Society for Technical Communication (STC).
Distinguished Chapter Service Award, 2003
The society level of STC awarded Linda the Distinguished Chapter Service Award in 2003. The citation reads: "For sustained contributions to, and outstanding leadership of, the Rocky Mountain Chapter--for willingly sharing your knowledge and advice and for providing support and encouragement as a mentor in our chapter and profession."
President’s Award of Service and Achievement, 2002
The Rocky Mountain Chapter of STC awarded Linda the President’s Award of Service and Achievement in 2002 for providing ongoing leadership and for continuing efforts to improve the operations of the chapter.
Award of Excellence, STC Online Competition, 1998
Linda G. Gallagher, partner in TechCom Plus, was the team leader on a project to design and write an online help system in HTML. Competition judges applauded the excellent navigation features, detailed index, and clear writing. The competition is an annual event sponsored by the Rocky Mountain Chapter of the Society for Technical Communication (STC).
Achievement Award, STC Technical Publications Competition, 1994
Linda G. Gallagher wrote a user guide for a calculator program. Competition judges complimented the good index, good organization, and easy-to-follow writing. The competition is an annual event sponsored by the St. Louis Chapter of the Society for Technical Communication (STC).
